1913 Dixie Flyer - Part Two

Dan rebuilt his 1913 Dixie Flyer to be a rider.  The engine was rebuilt utilizing aerospace technologies and materials.  The cylinder was bored and an alloy piston of 5:1 compresion ratio and low drag "Total-Seal" rings replaced its original cast-iron 4:1 compresiion piston with 5/16"h. rings.  The piston skirt received a Molybdenum coating.  The valve manifolds was ported to increase flow by 49%.  The intake mainfold has been treated to Extrude Hone's contour flowing process.  The Schebler Model H carb has been blue-printed and its throttle and shaft thinned.  All of the relevant areas such as valve faces, piston crown and head valves have been ceramic coated in order to reduce heat soak and increase drive force.  The flywheel was assembed by Falicon Crankshafts.  Diesel engine (22:1c.r.) bronze wristpins material was selected from Atlas Bronze and optioned with their CNC cut, figure-eight shaped, internal oil grooves, which prevent the oil molecules from shearing.  The original, atmospherically operated steel intake valve weighed 26 gr, and was replaced by a Manley titanium intake valve weighing only 20 gr.  The original 6V ignition system has been upgraded to 12V with a custom made integrated circuit board with potentiometer and G M HEI ignition module to 'slow' the battery drain, theoretically extending the motorcycle's operating time from 17 hours to 25 hours between charges.  Lastly, the Eclipse free engine clutch was rebuilt with new springs, plates and Kelvar friction discs.
